The Tesway X5 AWD is a powerful electric bike built for riders who want long range, high speed cruising, and all wheel drive support. On paper, it comes with a 52V system, 3600W peak motor power, and up to 200 miles of claimed range. These numbers sound impressive, but real riding is what matters most.

After testing the bike on roads, hills, sand, and open cruising sections, the X5 AWD feels more like a heavy duty long range cruiser than a sharp low speed torque machine. It has smooth power, strong brakes, a comfortable step through frame, and a huge battery. It is also very heavy, and the power delivery is more controlled than some riders may expect from a 3600W peak dual motor ebike.

Huge 52V 60Ah Battery

The biggest highlight of the Tesway X5 AWD is its battery. The bike uses a 52V 60Ah battery pack with about 3,120Wh of energy. Compared with a normal ebike battery, this pack is massive. The battery alone weighs about 30.6 lb.

This large battery gives the bike strong long range potential, but it also adds a lot of weight. The X5 AWD weighs about 90 lb without the battery and around 120 lb with the battery installed. This is not a bike most riders will want to lift often. It is better for riders who can roll it out of a garage, ride from home, and use it for longer trips.

The good part is the battery placement. It sits low and near the center of the frame, which helps the bike feel more balanced once it starts moving. Even though the bike is heavy, it does not feel unstable on the road.

Step Through Frame and Riding Position

The X5 AWD uses a low step through frame, making it easier to get on and off the bike. This is helpful because of the bike’s weight. A lower frame makes the bike feel more approachable than a tall step over design.

Even for a tall rider around 6'5", mounting the bike feels easy. With the seat raised to the highest position, the riding position is still fairly upright. The reach is a little short for very tall riders, but it is comfortable enough for cruising.

The handlebars are not height adjustable. For taller riders, the bike would feel better if the bars were about one inch higher. Shorter riders can lower the seat for a more relaxed fit. The wide seat, low frame, and 20 inch wheels help make the bike easier to sit on and control at lower speeds.

Display, Controls, and NFC Unlock

The Tesway X5 AWD uses an NFC smart chip to unlock the display. The rider turns on the key, presses the power button, and taps the NFC chip to unlock the bike.

The color display shows five pedal assist levels and allows the rider to switch between motor modes. Pressing the I button changes the bike between rear motor mode and dual motor mode. The system seems to send more power to the rear motor than the front motor, which helps reduce front wheel spin and makes the bike easier to control.

One thing that could be improved is the display data. The screen does not show battery voltage or real time wattage. For a large battery dual motor bike, these details would be useful. A simple battery bar does not give enough information during longer rides.

The bike also has a headlight button. When the headlight turns on, the rear light turns on too. Pulling the brake lever makes the rear light brighter. The horn is loud, but the bike does not include front or rear turn signals.

Hill Climbing Test

The hill test was done on a 20 percent grade with a rider weighing around 200 lb. The bike was set to dual motor mode and pedal assist level 5.

From a complete stop, the X5 AWD did not deliver a hard launch. The power came in smoothly instead of hitting hard right away. With a small rolling start, the bike climbed better and started to build power more naturally.

One important detail is that the bike needed to be unlocked. Out of the box, it was running in a lower speed mode. Holding the I button changed the bike from the lower 16 max setting to the higher 64 max setting. After unlocking, the bike had more power available.

Even after unlocking, the bike still needed some pedaling help on the 20 percent grade. It can climb steep roads, but it does not feel like an aggressive torque machine from a low speed start. The power is strong, but it is delivered in a smooth and controlled way.

High Speed Cruising

The Tesway X5 AWD feels best once it is already moving. In dual motor mode with pedal assist level 5, the bike reaches 10 mph and 20 mph easily. After unlocking, it can continue into the 30 mph range quickly.

The bike feels most useful in the mid 20s to low 30s. At these speeds, the dual motor system feels smooth and fun, and the bike works well as a fast cruiser.

During the speed test, the display showed slightly higher numbers than GPS. With a headwind, the display showed about 37 mph, while GPS showed around 34 mph. With a light tailwind, the display showed about 40 mph, while GPS showed around 38 mph. In a more aerodynamic riding position, GPS reached about 40 mph, while the display showed around 42 mph.

So the X5 AWD is clearly a fast electric bike. The display may read a little high, but the bike can reach serious speed in real riding conditions.

Cadence Sensor and Pedaling Feel

The X5 AWD uses a cadence sensor. This means the bike does not measure how hard the rider presses on the pedals. It only senses that the pedals are turning, then gives motor support based on the selected assist level.

This makes the bike easy to ride. In pedal assist level 5, the rider does not need to push hard. Simply turning the pedals can bring in strong motor power. However, it does not feel as natural as a torque sensor system.

When the bike is unlocked, pedal assist level 1 can take it to about 11 mph. When locked back down, assist level 1 reaches around 8 mph, level 2 reaches around 10 mph, level 4 reaches around 14 mph, and level 5 reaches the top speed allowed in that mode.

The throttle is also tied to the pedal assist level. In lower assist levels, the throttle holds a lower speed. In higher assist levels, it allows more speed. This makes the throttle feel almost like a speed control system.

The bike has seven gears, but gear 7 was used for most of the ride. Around 30 mph, that gear feels close to the natural pedaling limit. At higher speeds, the bike feels more motor focused than pedal focused.

Brakes and Safety Feel

The brakes are one of the strongest parts of the X5 AWD. The bike uses four piston hydraulic brakes with large 203mm rotors on both the front and rear wheels.

This braking setup feels strong and controlled. That matters because the bike is heavy and fast. A 120 lb electric bike needs brakes that can handle high speed riding.

When slowing down from around 35 mph, the bike still feels stable. The stopping power feels limited more by tire grip than by the brake system itself. For a fast heavy ebike, this is a very important safety feature.

Street Comfort and Sand Riding

On paved roads, the X5 AWD works well as a cruiser. The low battery placement helps the bike stay balanced, and the dual motor setup spreads the work across two motors.

The rear dual coil shocks help with small bumps and light road imperfections. However, this is not a high end off road suspension setup. On rougher ground, the ride can feel firm, so it is better to stand on the pedals instead of staying seated.

The bike uses Kenda 20x4 inch knobby tires. On pavement, smoother street tires might feel quieter and more efficient. On sand, the knobby tires help more.

In soft sand, the bike slows down heavily and can almost stop if speed drops too low. With some pedaling help, it can keep moving, but it is not a true soft sand machine. On hard packed sand, it performs much better. The tires grip the surface, and the dual motor setup helps push the bike forward.

Real Range Impression

The test ride covered just under 17 miles in about 1 hour and 7 minutes. After the ride, the display still showed five out of five battery bars. That sounds impressive, but the battery bar was not very precise because the bike does not show voltage.

Based on the riding style, which included high speed cruising, hill testing, and sand riding, the estimate was that about one third of the battery may have been used.

Tesway’s 200 mile range claim is optimistic. To get close to that number, a rider would likely need slow speed, low assist, flat ground, careful throttle use, and ideal conditions. Still, the 52V 60Ah battery is huge, and the X5 AWD should offer much more real world range than many standard electric bikes.

Final Review

The Tesway X5 AWD is best for riders who want a large, fast, long range electric bike with smooth dual motor support. It is not the lightest ebike, and it is not the most explosive climber from a dead stop. Its power delivery is smoother than the 3600W peak rating may suggest.

That smooth power can actually be a good thing. The bike feels easier to control, more stable at higher speeds, and less likely to spin the front wheel too aggressively. The strong hydraulic brakes also match the bike’s weight and speed well.

The 52V 60Ah battery is the main reason to consider this bike. It gives the X5 AWD serious long range potential and helps reduce range anxiety on longer rides.

For city cruising, long road rides, beach paths, and riders who want a big battery step through ebike, the Tesway X5 AWD makes sense. It is less ideal for riders who need a lightweight bike, advanced off road suspension, or instant low speed torque.
